From Cangzhou to Beijing: The Will
Sometimes it is better to realize immediately of our limits rather than ignore them. Regret not having given due weight to things when common sense had suggested to us to do so, put us in an uncomfortable condition, with potential highly harmful. It happens to people. These conditions can happen.
The danger that we have faced of today and that has forced us to take an immediate decision is called: "generator 6 kilowatts".
It does not work; it does not charge up batteries of our bikes as it should and this forces us to leave early this morning, deleting the Great Wall from our dreams. At least for today. Now, in the minds of each of us, there is only one thought: it is only the third day of our trip and such a problem could mean many things. The worst? It's better not to mention it at all and nor point out this matter.
Mister Sun - and we're sorry to have to mention him, because he does not even deserve a quote - has been unfair. He assembled generators that only in theory would have to produce energy. But the truth is they do not work and do not generate the power that we need in order to be able to travel peacefully. Indeed, to be able to travel.
Even Nicola for a moment, after having found a mechanic in Beijing - that unfortunately today we cannot visit, seems discouraged.
What to do? Who to call? And before you even decide what to do and who to call, it important to understand what is really the problem. But Nicola is not all alone in this uncomfortable situation, there are other six people with him who try to propose solutions, despite we do not know what to do and, perhaps, are more frightened than him.
The will. The will to do, to believe, to invent, if necessary.
For the "will" these seven people, that twenty minutes after the moments of loss, decide to completely disassemble the back of two pick-up and revolutionize everything. The ability of those who know more is at the service of those who know less; who in his life is a mechanic manages to have brilliant insights.
Result: in ten hours of work we have dismantled the back of the two cars, generators, links, batteries, we remove the metal box attached to the bottom, and we cut cables and so on.
We replace the generators and thanks to the right power supplied, all starts to operate again.
The smiles come back on our faces and we feel that we have clearly done a step forward, one after the other, once again.
Today is not like other days. Our dynamic diary won't tell you about places and curiosities, foreign faces and local food.
It is the demonstration of the will and we choose to try to comunicate it to you showing our faces...
Today, we want to show us in this way.Text and photos by Flavio Allegretti
